My mom, Gay Otey, is coming to town next Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 20 and 21, at 7:00PM, to perform her annual concert at Z Mansion, 288 N. Church. Gay is an amazing classical pianist/singer and is quite funny as well. Her CD, "Postcards", celebrates the classical piano works of Ginastera, Turina, Pinto, and Granados. In this concert, Gay will perform a program called "Back to My Roots", celebrating her Norwegian, English, Welsh, Polish, and German heritage with piano pieces by Chopin, Grieg, Brahms and more. Diane Van Deurzen and I will sing an interlude of songs based on classical themes by Chopin, Brahms and Debussy.
